Terms of Service
The terms below govern your use of Lazi. They’re written to be readable, but they’re still a binding agreement, so please read them.
Last updated: 27 May 2026
1. About Lazi & these terms
Lazi (“Lazi”, “we”, “us”) operates an online network that matches heavy-transport operators running empty return legs with parties that have freight to move, and facilitates payment for those jobs. Lazi is operated from Aotearoa New Zealand.
By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these Terms of Service. If you’re agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you’re authorised to bind that company.
Lazi is currently in beta. Features may change, and availability is not guaranteed.
2. What Lazi is, and isn’t
Lazi is a marketplace and facilitation platform. The transport contract for any job is between the carrier and the shipper. Lazi is not the carrier, the shipper, a freight forwarder, or a party to that transport contract, and does not take possession of any goods.
We provide the tools (matching, messaging, digital load tickets, and payment processing), but the carrier and shipper are responsible for performing the job they agree to.
3. Accounts & eligibility
You must be a New Zealand business (or authorised to act for one) and provide accurate, current information. You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.
Roles (owner, admin, dispatcher, driver) control what each team member can see and do. Account owners are responsible for who they invite and the roles they assign.
4. Matching, jobs & load tickets
Posts are either an empty leg (a truck heading back) or a load (a shipment to move). When both parties accept a match, a transport contract forms directly between them on the agreed terms (price, route, equipment, timing).
Carriers are responsible for confirming the job suits their equipment, licences, and route. Both parties confirm delivery and may capture photos for the digital load ticket, which Lazi timestamps and stores.
5. Fees & payments
Lazi is free to join. Fees apply only on completed matches:
- A 5% service fee charged to the shipper on the agreed price.
- A 3% payout fee deducted from the carrier’s gross.
- Card processing charged by our payment provider (Stripe) is passed on to the shipper, not absorbed.
All payments are processed through Stripe. Carrier payouts are made to a verified NZ bank account, typically 48 hours after both parties confirm delivery. Fees are shown in full before you accept a match. We may change fees with notice; changes don’t affect matches already accepted.
6. GST & taxes
Prices and fees may be subject to GST. You’re responsible for your own tax obligations, including GST registration and returns where applicable. Lazi generates tax invoices to assist, but you should confirm your position with your accountant or the IRD.
7. Cancellations & penalties
Before a match is accepted, either side can withdraw without penalty. After acceptance there’s a 5-minute grace window; after that, a cancellation may incur a penalty (a percentage of the agreed price, subject to minimum and maximum amounts) charged to the at-fault party. An admin reviews cancellations before any penalty is charged, and valid reasons are generally waived.
8. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that:
- Your vehicles, drivers, licences, COF/WOF, RUC, and insurance are current and lawful for the work performed.
- Loads are legal, accurately described, safe to carry, and properly secured; dangerous goods are declared and handled lawfully.
- You comply with all applicable NZ transport, health-and-safety, and consumer laws.
9. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the platform: no fraud, no circumventing fees by taking matched jobs off-platform, no scraping, no interfering with the service or other users, and no posting unlawful or misleading content. We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these terms.
10. Your data & content
You keep ownership of the content and data you put into Lazi. You grant us the licence needed to operate the service (e.g. showing a post to the partners you’ve chosen, generating tickets and invoices). How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
Lazi is provided “as is”, especially during beta. We don’t warrant that matches will be available, that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any carrier or shipper will perform. We don’t vet the quality, safety, or legality of any job, vehicle, or party beyond the verification steps described.
12. Liability
Where you use Lazi for the purposes of a business, you agree the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply, to the extent the law allows. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lazi is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss arising from the acts or omissions of a carrier or shipper. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the Lazi fees you paid in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that can’t be excluded under NZ law.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Lazi against claims, losses, and costs arising from your use of the platform, the jobs you perform or post, or your breach of these terms or the law.
14. Suspension & termination
You can stop using Lazi at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, poses a risk, or repeatedly cancels in bad faith. Fees already incurred remain payable.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
16. Changes & contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in the app or by email, and the “last updated” date above will change. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
